WHAT IS THE FEMALE FERTILITY TEST AND OVARIAN RESERVE FOR?
-
Fertility can be affected by various factors such as genetic diseases or unhealthy lifestyle habits. With age, the quantity and quality of the ovarian reserve and the Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) decrease. This hormone becomes a very useful indicator to know the approximate number of eggs, their quality and, in conclusion, fertility. The progressive decline of this hormone is a sign of loss of ovarian reserve. It is also a very sensitive marker to diagnose ovarian alterations since altered levels of AMH correlate with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, premature ovarian failure, or early menopause.
Who should take this test?
-
Women over 35 years of age. Determining a woman's fertility level, necessary information if conception is not achieved or if assisted reproduction treatments such as in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination, and other techniques are being considered. Women who want to be egg donors (eggs in their earliest stage) or who want to freeze their eggs to preserve their fertility for later.
