During the entire month of October 2021, the restrictions to travel to the USA from the European Union (Spain included) indicate that only certain groups of people can travel to the United States; this measure known as “GTB” (Geographic Travel Ban) will disappear as of November 1, 2021.
If you need to travel to a North American country, here we tell you who DOES have authorization to enter the country, despite the restrictions. These people must meet a series of requirements against Covid-19, which we will talk about later:
Persons authorized to enter the USA, despite the Geographic Travel Ban
The main thing you should know is that mobility restrictions are divided into vaccinated and unvaccinated people against Covid-19, both groups must present a negative result of an RT-PCR or antigen test, carried out no more than 3 days before your trip.
At medmesafe, we offer all the Covid tests necessary for travel: antigens, RT-PCR, serology, and home services. If you have additional questions, contact us through the following form.
- United States Nationals.
- United States Residents.
- Direct relatives of nationals or residents: spouses, adopted children, parents of the resident, children under 21 years of age, promised with their respective visa.
- Members of the US military.
- Students who start the course in September or October.
All the aforementioned people, in addition to their respective visas to enter the country, must present a Covid test with a negative result and their complete vaccination schedule.
Covid-19 tests valid to travel to the USA from Spain
All people who want to enter the United States (vaccinated or not vaccinated) must present one of the following tests, carried out within a period of no more than 3 days (72 hours).
The certificate of said tests must contain:
- Personal information of the patient (name, surname, passport, and date of birth)
- Test date
- QR code
- Certified laboratory data
- The negative result of the same tests with invalid or inconclusive results is not accepted.
There is another option to demonstrate immunity to the virus, if the person has been infected with Covid-19 in the last 90 days, they can present their current test (RT-PCR, antigens, or RT-Lamp) with a positive result, which supports that it has generated immunity to the disease. In addition, you must have a certificate issued by a health authority, reaffirming her health status against Covid-19.
The vaccines accepted by the USA to enter its territory are the following:
- Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen
The first two (Pfizer and Moderna) are considered complete regimens, when 14 days have passed since the last dose administered; which in this case must be 2. In the event that the person has been vaccinated with Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen, which is a single dose, they must also have 14 days after its application. The vaccination certificate does not have a mandatory language in which it must be written, however, it is suggested to be in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
According to the CDC, passengers who are fully vaccinated are not required to quarantine upon arrival, however, each location may have different forecasts on the subject, according to their levels of infection. That is why it is recommended to check the local restrictions of each place you will attend within the USA.
