Thromboembolism Risk analysis

Thrombosis, also known as venous thromboembolism, consists of the obstruction of a vein by the formation of a clot. Severity depends on whether the thrombus has formed in a superficial vein or in a deeper vein.

Thrombosis can affect anyone of any age and cause a disability and a serious illness such as a stroke or a stroke or cerebral embolism, even in some cases death. The causes can be genetic, environmental or both of them.

How does it work?

  1. elige tu test genético
Choose and suggest an analysis for your patient
  2. frotis bucal para análisis
Your patient will receive its DNA sample kit at home
  3. instrucciones de uso
One of our partner labs will make the analysis
  4. instrucciones de uso
A specialist will explain the results by video-conference
  1. What are these tests?

They are tests that study the genetic material (DNA) present in oral cells, which detect polymorphisms (genetic variants) in genes associated with the risk of venous thromboembolism, arterial hypertension, acute risk of myocardial infarction and dyslipemias (alterations in the levels of fats in blood, mainly cholesterol and triglycerides).

  2. Who are they targeting?

They are aimed at anyone who wants to know their risk of thrombosis, but above all, people who are at greater risk for thrombosis due to different causes:

    • Personal or family background

    • Advanced age

    • Long periods of immobilization

    • Long periods of immobilization

    • Pregnancy

    • Obesity

    • Heart problems

    • Oncology patients

  3. What can they contribute to the patient's daily life?

Knowing if there is a genetic predisposition to the formation of thrombi is essential for a specialist to establish preventive measures and follow up properly before this type of obstruction can occur.

  4. How is the sample taken?

The patient receives at home by courier a sample collection kit with very easy to follow instructions and an informed consent that must be signed. The sampling is very simple, quick and painless. You should only maintain the precautions detailed in the kit. Once made and given notice, a courier will come at patient’s home to pick it up and take it directly to the laboratory for analysis.
