What is thrombophilia?
-
Thrombophilia is defined as: the condition in which the blood coagulates very easily (thrombus formation) or in which clots form but do not dissolve normally.
Why does it happen?
-
50% of cases of thrombophilia have a genetic cause, 70% of people who have this disease are unaware of it, not being able to prevent its development in time.
What are the symptoms?
-
Blood clots cause a blockage, preventing the proper circulation of blood. This can lead to thrombus symptoms such as swelling, warmth, pain, and redness in the area.
Who should have this test?
-
Thrombophilia is a disorder that mostly affects women, especially their fertility. It can be the cause of not getting pregnant, losing the baby during pregnancy, or complications during childbirth. These effects are related to the consumption of hormonal contraceptive methods in women.
This test is recommended for people undergoing chemotherapy treatment, obesity, diabetes, lupus, viral infection, or people with a family history of thrombophilia.
