Why take the test?
- The rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 has shown that it is important to be able to have reliable and specific diagnostic tests that can identify patients who have generated protection against it.
- The immune response to the virus can be determined by studying IgM and IgG antibodies.
- Detection of COVID-19 IgG and IgM ANTIBODY will indicate whether or not the disease has passed or is active at this time.
What does the test detect?
If you have negative IgM and IgG: The negative result of this test is not 100% reliable since a person could be infected by the virus and have not yet activated their immune response when they are in the window period. In this way, it is recommended to complement negative cases with PCR when the patient presents symptoms or has an associated risk factor.
- If you have negative IgM and positive IgG: The patient has already passed the virus.
- If it presents IgM and IgG positive: Active phase of the infection.
- If you have positive IgM and negative IgG: It is an early stage of infection and it is recommended to perform PCR to confirm the infection.
